Cupping Therapy

A method that uses suction and negative pressure to release rigid soft tissue, loosen adhesions, lift connective tissue and improve blood flow to treated areas.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping therapy is a time-tested technique that uses gentle suction to release tension, improve circulation, and promote healing. By creating negative pressure on the skin, cupping helps to loosen tight muscles, lift connective tissue, and boost blood flow to targeted areas.

A typical session may begin with the application of oil to allow cups to glide smoothly over the skin, generating warmth and stimulating circulation. Stationary cups may then be placed and left in position for 10–20 minutes to deliver a sustained stretch to the fascia and encourage deeper tissue release.

Benefits of cupping include:

  • Relief from muscle tension and pain
  • Enhanced blood and lymphatic flow
  • Faster recovery from physical activity
  • Reduced stress and anxiety
  • Detoxification support
  • Improved skin tone and elasticity
  • Deep relaxation
  • Works well alongside other therapies

What about the marks?

Cupping often leaves circular marks on the skin, which are not bruises but a normal and temporary part of the healing process. These marks are painless and typically fade within 4–10 days. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), their appearance can offer diagnostic insight, while in modern practice, they are seen as indicators of areas with tissue congestion or overuse. Smokers or those who are dehydrated may notice the marks take a little longer to fade.
